A Work in Progress......

We have WORKED ALL SUMMER on our yard. We dug a hole and put our tramp in the ground, put in a sprinkler system, leveled it, weeded it, raked it, weeded it, got curbing, weeded it, put together our play set, WEEDED IT, planted trees and shrubs, WEEDED IT, shoveled cow poop on the whole thing, planted grass, WEEDED IT, put down mulch, put in gravel, and now we need to WEED IT AGAIN! I guess that's what we get for building in an Alf Alfa field.

It is still a work in progress, we still have LOTS of work to do NEXT YEAR!

Our grass is coming in pretty good in the front, the back is another story.....

Shrubs are still small, but hopefully by next year they will be bigger...

Ignore the WEEDS in the play area, we still need to put something down in there....

Our door never matched our front arch so I finally made myself redo it....and it was a PAIN!
This is what it looked like before......
Here it is all sanded......

Here it is stained the RIGHT color.....

And the finished product! (bad glare)

Warning:

WARNING: Danger! Flammable Liquid and Vapor!
Any guesses on what this used to be????
Anyone? Anyone?
Well this used to be TWO of our garbage cans!!
Here is the story.......On Saturday, Shane was staining our big arch in our entry way. The wind was blowing pretty hard and it knocked over the can of stain and spilled some on our front porch. We were trying to scrub it off with things like: Paint Thinner, Pure Acetone, and Gas. Good news is we got most of the stain off our porch.
Well then we just put all the rags and paper towels we used to clean up the mess in the garbage (which was completely full) and didn't give it a second thought.
Jump to 4 am Sunday morning when Dax woke up and was crying a little (which he NEVER does). I went into his room and laid him back down and smelled something pretty strong but couldn't figure out what it was. I checked the whole house and couldn't see anything so I went back to bed.
Dax woke up again at like 7:15 and Shane went in to get him and hollered in at me and asked if I could smell something melting. He looked around the house too and couldn't see anything so he and Dax came and laid in our bed.
Then the door bell rang.....we were wondering who would be ringing our doorbell at 7:20 am. Shane went to the door and one our friends was there and asked Shane if he started a fire on our driveway.....Shane went out to look and saw this (but it was on fire)......

"dude that's my garbage can"

So this was our big garbage can totally full and then we had another 50 gallon can sitting right next to it also full and this is what was left.
We are just so thankful that it didn't hurt our house, we got so lucky!
It was a good story at church though!

1st Grade Already?

Today was Kennedi's first day as a 1st Grader.
She is getting so big, it makes me sad sometimes, but for the most part I'm ok with her getting older. I didn't cry today.....she was so excited, so I was just excited for her. She didn't want anyone to walk her to class but I insisted that I did.
Here she is all ready to go. She is such a pretty girl!

The sun was in her eyes....

Seven Peaks!!

On Saturday we went to Seven Peaks with my mom, dad, Jason, Kyler, Matthew, and Heather and had sooo much fun!!

Kennedi, being freakishly tall for a 6 year old, could go on all the rides......AND SHE DID!!! Nothing SCARES this girl! The first slide we went on when we got there was the Free Fall. The tallest slide that goes STRAIGHT DOWN! Shane bet Heather $20 that she wouldn't go down it but she did won the bet!! Kennedi wasn't even nervous. I on the other hand almost threw up when she was getting ready to go...but she made it down just fine and loved it, so then I HAD to go down since my little girl just did!

This isn't a great video...but here is Kennedi on the Free Fall....

I love this picture because both of my kids are EXTREMELY dark and Shane is just as white as he can be!!

This slide doesn't look very scary from the video but it was.....

Dax wasn't a big fan of Seven Peaks. We took him down a few slides but he really didn't love them.....

Here is Kenna and Heather going down the yellow slide. Heather is going to kill me for putting this on here for the way the video ends LOL!

Hangin out at our canopy......

Longest Post Ever!

I have a lot to catch up on so here we go.....

The kids and I went swimming at the Manti Pool yesterday. It was the first time Dax has really been swimming this year (I'm a bad mom, I know) and he cried for the first half hour we were there and wanted out of the water. I refused to let him out and pretty soon he decided he loved it. Here he is jumping to me....

We ran into lots of people we knew including my friend and old college roommate Dani and her two adorable little girls. Here is Dax and her youngest daughter Paisley playing in the water.....

I think this is the first time Dax actually looked at the camera and smiled!!!

Tara and her boys came with us.....here are Kennedi and Jaggar...

.....and Dax and Krew......

Kennedi is quite the little fish! She was all over the place and it was nice not to have to watch her because I had my hands full with Dax.

________________________________________________

We went camping last weekend for the first time as a family. I can't say it was the best camping experience I've ever had. Dax is a crazy man and loves to get into everything and pretty much just wanted to be on the 4-wheeler the whole time. It was really hard to get him to sleep because he didn't have his crib, and then I couldn't sleep because I was sleeping in the same sleeping bag with him. He then woke up in a raging fit around 5:30 am. Kennedi slept great through the noise as usual and slept until about 9:00.

That afternoon we left our camp to go fishing and got to the lake and decided we better go back because it looked like it was about to rain. Although we never saw a drop of rain, we could barely get back to our camp because it was so muddy from the rain poored and once we did we found our camp completely destroyed! All the food was cleaned up but our tent was full of water, soaking everything in it. It was so much fun to clean up!

Just tilt your head to see this pic...

This is the only way we could get him to sleep for his nap.....

Shane's parents came up and had breakfast with us....Here is Dax and Grandpa K...

About a month ago, the Coombs, our good friends from AZ, came and stayed with us. We always have so much fun with them. Since they are city slickers, we did lots of "small town" stuff with them like:

Shot some guns......

Rode 4-wheelers to the hat holes.....

And had Shane's dad take us on a wagon ride.....

Good Times!!
